The Vampire Diaries Premiere Review.
As you all thought this Tv Show is for a teenage audience/young adults. We don’t think that’s a bad thing because you have true blood on ShowTime that’s to explicit for an under eighteen audience. This show is similar to ‘Twilight’, so if you like ‘The Twilight Saga Series’ then you will enjoy watching Vampire Diaries. The pilot aired with Nina Dobrev (Degrassi the next generation) as Elena getting to know the new guy at her High school; Stefan (Paul Wesley) who is a centuries old vampire. Stefan has a keen interest in Elena because she resembles an old love he had in the eighteen hundreds named Katherine.
A lot of the same superstitions associated with vampires exist in this show. A vampire must be invited into a home if he wishes to enter. No one really knows he’s a vampire yet. When someone is attacked at a party Stefan is left wondering who it could be since it wasn’t him. He later finds out it was his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is the evil brother of the two. Later, we will see that Elena will be torn between the two brothers. This is a romance/vampire show based on the books of L.J. Smith.
Overall, it’s a regular TV show that took advantage of the vampire craze of ‘Twilight’ movies and ‘True Blood’ TV show and decided to base it on vampires as a pg version. Supposing you like romance novels mixed with vampires, you enjoy watching 'Smallville' and 'Supernatural' and you are upset 'Buffy' got canceled then you will not dislike ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Probably more gals then boys will be watching.

Vampire mania is here to stay! Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles are back and Guess who plays Lestat?!
Update: Bloody Disgusting has confirmed it. Still no word on what the title will be or who will be the director.
Okay, so we are happy to hear that Universal will be doing an adaptation of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. The last time we heard about Lestat Du Lioncort was when we attended the musical to see "The Vampire Lestat" on Broadway in 2006. which was soon canceled. We also heard that Pandora was going to be picked up but it never happened. By the way, we would love to see Angelina Jolie as Pandora. Just throwing that out there.
Well, moving right along to the news word on the Horror Net is that Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man)will be taking over Lestat's Character. Previously done by Tom Cruise in Interview with the vampire, and Stuart Townsend in Queen of the Damned and on stage by Hugh Panero. We think the next adaptation might possibly be "The Vampire Lestat" since we don't believe they'll remake any of the first two movies mentioned. We will keep you updated.
P.S. This is what was published in Anne Rice's Official Site in July:
"We will see high quality films based on the adventures of Lestat and his friends in the future. We will see a fine film some day of Ramses the Damned. The Mayfair Witches will have new life in film. The Christ the Lord books will some day make it to the screen. Angel Time, and the future adventures of Toby O’Dare, will make it to television or film. When I have solid news of a new film based on any of my works, I will post it on this website.
We hope this is true after all, Anne Rice brought Vampires to a whole new stature and Stephanie Meyer was taking all the credit. Rice deserves a cut in the Vampire Phenomena/Craze of the new era.

Johnny Depp --- Vampire, in Dark Shadows.

Tim Burton announced at Comic-Con in San Diego that his next project after the Alice in Wonderland remake, will be resurrecting a sixties cult soap opera series that ran from 1966-1971 "Dark Shadows" created by Dan Curtis. Johnny Depp will be starring as Barnabas Collins a 175 year old Vampire searching for his lost love.
Synopsis: Over 1,225 episodes, "Dark Shadows" was a highly atmospheric, spooky soap that featured Gothic horror staples like vampires, monsters, witches, werewolves, ghosts and zombies.
There has been a number of adaptation of the series but they were unsuccessful.
Depp has said in the past that he would sneak out from school early to get home in time to watch the show. He also said that "this is a lifelong dream for me. I was obsessed with Barnabas Collins. I have photographs of me holding Barnabas Collins posters when I was five or six." Burton says that he also had a strange fascination with the show. "It had the weirdest vibe to it. I'm sort of intrigued about that vibe."

Vampire Mania Continues, with Vampire Diaries Series

"New Show on CW about vampires"
"More on Stephanie Meyer author of the twilight saga, and her mark on the Vampire genre."
The Vampire craze continues, there are those who say that Stephanie Meyer opened the door to vampires, which is wrong. Stephanie Meyer certainly brought vampires back, she reopened doors to vampires is more like it; thanks to the teen crazed Twilight saga fans. Anne rice of course, is the queen of the vampire genre but she has since stopped writing about them. Now Ms. Meyer opened the door to more vampire genre authors. Charlaine Harris, for example with the Sookie Stackhouse series although she has been writing for years, HBO decided to adapt the book into a series called True Blood.( Read my review on season 2 here .)
Furthermore, she has also opened doors to a series of books called the vampire diaries by L.J. Smith now adapted as a TV show by CW called the vampire diaries. The Vampire diaries are also targeted to a teen audience although The Horror Press will be looking out for it on September 10, 2009 when it premieres and review it. It looks a little less terrorizing than Buffy the Vampire Slayer the TV Show, but we’ll see. The Vampire Diaries stars Elena (Nina Dobrev) “who is torn between a pair of vampire brothers, the tortured and well-meaning Stefan (Paul Wesley) and the devilish Damon (Somerhalder).” –Mtv
Somer Halder who plays Damon, was interviewed by Mtv saying “It's fun playing a vampire, "You're 200 years old. You can fly around. You can eat beautiful girls — well, you can suck on their neck. I don't physically cut them up and eat them. That would be a little sick." He sounds a little to excited there, huh — about being a vampire. He also mentioned something along the lines of Vampires kill people therefore, they have to eat for “population control” He’s done his research alright, and it seems like he really got into his role. For more Vampire Diaries info check out CW Website. For updates, posters etc. on the Vampire diaries, check out the link below.

Truebies! season 2 is back better than ever!
Things are definitely getting steamier and crazier at the same time. Bill is showing off his darker side a lot more. Sookie is no longer tolerating people’s shit. Eric got a makeover, and we can now see his animalistic side in the first episode of season two. There’s a new woman in town by the name of Mary Ann- that we’re still trying to figure out what she or it is; we first saw her at the end of season one. Someone who came at the end of season one as well was Jessica, the seven-teen year old that Bill had to convert vampire as a punishment, she’s still trying to get use to being a Vampire by causing trouble. We like her as an addition to the characters.
In the second episode of season two we found out that there’s some kind of dragon going around scratching women, on their backs and leaving poison behind. True Blood get’s better by the minute so much so, that we wish they gave it every day. Lafayette…well you have to watch it to know what’s happening with Lafayette. Just know that that town is filled with Vampires, shape shifters, dragons, a church filled with vampire haters, and possibly a witch? Not sure. We haven’t read the books yet. Those that have read the books leave a comment about it without spoiling it too much for us.
