5 Blood Drops for Grace.
Review: by Sweetreviewer

How far can the maternal bond between mother and child go?

Directed and Written by: Paul Solet

Grace deals with loss, the mental effects that death creates on us humans, and the wanting of something so bad you’ll do anything to keep it alive. That’s what baby Grace is an “It.”

We weren’t wrong in judging this movie merely by watching the trailer, and knowing this film was going to seriously do damage to ones psyche. This movie is completely different to what others think it might be. It might lead you to think it’s another Rosemarie’s baby rip-off, but it is far beyond that comparison.

This independent movie only screened in certain theaters.

Madeline Matheson(Jordan Ladd) is a vegetarian that has already had miscarriages and is trying to conceive another child. She becomes successful and decides not to conceive it at a hospital and goes to a mid-wife. Madeline and her husband Michael Matheson (Stephen Park) suffer a car accident. A tragedy happens and Madeline sees herself with preeclampsia ---she later learns that the baby has died. She refuses to go to a hospital and decides to conceive the baby until full term. The mid-wife(Samantha Farris) delivers the still born child, and then realizes that the baby was born dead, but miraculously becomes alive and well. Madeline’s mother in law (Gabrielle Rose) is upset and thinks that Madeline isn’t well at all. She feels Madeline is insane. But the mother in law Vivienne Matheson is having issues of her own as well ---issues of loss and regression. Grace turns out to be a bloodsucking baby. We don’t know what she is… a zombie? ---Or Perhaps a vampire? ---Or maybe a Hybrid? That’s the beauty of this movie even when it ends we still don’t know what grace is.

Overall, this movie is odd, different and interesting. It deals with unresolved issues of motherhood and co-dependency, with an ironic climax. This movie is for those that aren’t bothered by touchy subjects such as this one. It’s for those that can stomach a good well done horror movie. It’s not your typical scary movie; it’s more profound; more psychological as we like it.

With that said... I’ll leave you with this quote from the Director Paul Solet in an interview with shocktillyoudrop

“Grace is all about keeping people off balance. It's about kicking the knees out from under the audience and cutting open their guts and reaching in and f**king with their soul.”

Indie News:12 Bells Trailer.

Along side Annubis Productions, Director Erik Soulliard (The Creek) is back with another horror movie. We weren't wrong in saying this was one of his many ventures in the horror genre. This movie looks promising and different. Check out the Trailer Below. There is no release date as of right now but production will be finished this
fall.

Here is the 12 Bells synopsis: "A diverse group of apartment dwellers unsuspectingly become trapped in a parallel dimension of disparate doors. While most are merely acquaintances at the outset, the group is thrust into a maze of hallways and rooms only to be separated by the mystifying element of each doorway. As they struggle to reunite and find their way, they encounter a myriad of macabre and often manic beings who threaten their life with false hope and violent sadistic behavior."

Caleb, an alcoholic recluse with a dark past who inhabits the same apartment building, must risk his last bit of sanity to help his fellow residents and rid himself of his own inner demons.

12 Bells is a suspenseful, high-paced horror that highlights the supernatural possibility that not every missing person is a victim of violent crime. Set in a warehouse resembling a mysterious netherworld, the clash of human and sub-human beings results in a chilling perplexity of survival. - 12 Bells official site.

Indie Film Review: The Creek. (2007)

Written and Directed by: Erik Soullaird
Released on DVD - October 28, 2008

The Creek ---winner for Best Horror Feature, at the Illinois international film festival 2007, is a low budget independent film that has to do with the loss of a friend, jealousy, murder, a haunting ghost and with what resentment and envy can lead one to do, if pushed to the extreme.

You can tell it’s a low budget film but at the same time the message that Erick Soulliard tried to convey still remains the same as bigger budgeted films. This movie stars Kathryn Merry (Plaster Head) Erik Soulliard (Murder Game) Brian Jesiolowski, Dave Foster, Melissa Rhoads, Nancy Soulliard and Tim Jesiolowski.

The movie deals with a group of six friends who drift apart after the loss of their friend Billy. Five years later they are brought together by Billy’s ghost. Everyone is seeing Billy’s ghost and the group of friends decide to go to the creek where Billy died in the attempt to put his soul to rest. When one of the friends mysteriously dies they all realize they are trapped together in the woods. Without any means of escape they don’t know whether it’s Billy’s ghost or someone else that’s after them.

A lot of the cast had great acting chops while some; just remained bitter in delivering their lines. Angel (Merry) was the most believable character in the movie, along side of Jesse (Erik Soulliard) the rest of the cast was okay. Calvin (Foster) was at times believable as a character and sometimes went sour. The one character that strongly overacted was Emily(Rhoads). Perhaps it was just Emily’s personality, but it was annoying and sometimes uncalled for.

For this being Erik Soulliard’s first feature film, it wasn’t bad at all. It had some cheesy lines and it lacked more back story about the group of friends. There are however some moments where viewers will be sure to jump, blood will be shed and some gore is sure to make you forget it’s low budget.

Overall, The Creek is worth watching ---for those who appreciate independent films. Do not expect what comes with a big budget film. We perceive that this is just the first of Soulliard’s many ventures in the horror genre. Do expect a believable story line, and the hard work and dedication that came into play in this film.
